The Color Alchemist Company of Painters are not carpenters, but as painters, we know that the paint film depends for its durability first of all upon a sound substrate.  We will never apply paint over a substrate that cannot be depended upon to hold paint.  Any original woodwork will be repaired to soundness with epoxy or it will be replaced, whichever offers the most reliable repair.  We have on staff a restoration carpenter who understands the needs of historic buildings and how to produce repairs that meet or exceed the original work.  To be sure of performance, we use marine grade fasteners and rot resistant spanish cedar for repairs.  The extra cost is a small price to pay for insurance against failure.
